Kogi State Government has threatened to take legal action on the spurious allegation by some media houses that it diverted the sum of 11 billion Naira on fictitious contracts.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Strategy, Abdulkareem Abdulmalik, announced the government’s decision while addressing reporters in Lokoja, the state’s capital.

He said: “The publishers of the story should be armed with their facts”, as the government would not take the matter with a pinch of salt.

Mr Abdulkareem pointed out that the publication was an embarrassment to the government and the people of Kogi State.

He also said that the Commissioner for Finance recently gave a breakdown of what comes into the state government’s coffers and how it was spent since January to date.

He, however, asked those who are behind the story to come out with facts and figures or tender unreserved apology.
