Hoteliers in Kogi state haven been directed to strengthen security around their premises.

The General Manager of Kogi State Hotels and Tourism Board, Prince Philip Orebiyi, gave the directive at a meeting with representatives of the Hoteliers Association in Lokoja on Tuesday.

Hon. Orebiyi emphasized the need for enhanced security measures, particularly in poorly constructed hotels.

To address this, he said the board will conduct inspections to ensure hotels meet the required standards.

Hotel owners were urged to install CCTV cameras as a matter of urgency ahead of the inspections.

The gathering focused on pivotal issues affecting the hospitality industry, including standards, security, regulatory compliance, and revenue generation.

The Chairman of the Hoteliers Association, Hon. Ocheni, expressed his satisfaction with the board’s initiatives and pledged his cooperation, as well as that of the association’s members.

However, he lamented the lack of participation from some hotel owners who have refused to affiliate with the association.
