The Governor gave the charge at a capacity building workshop for midwives and community Health extension workers, in the seven Local Government Areas of the State, one of the components of the Subsidy Re-investment and Empowerment Programme.
The Governor who was represented by his Deputy, Yomi Awoniyi, says a number of measures has been specified by public health experts as safety mechanisms to be adopted to contain the spread of the disease.
Capt Wada particularly appealed to the people to imbibe the culture of washing their hands and abstain from the consumption of bush meats known to be carriers of the dreaded virus.
The Governor who described the state as a gateway to the North and Southern part of the State, enjoined citizens of the State to adhere strictly to measures it has put in place through the Emergency Rapid Response Committee, to address all issues on Ebola virus infection.
While promising that Government will do all that is necessary to protect the citizens of the State, Capt Wada called on the people to cooperate with the Committee in whatever area necessary for prevention, detection and treatment of any known case promptly.
In his remarks at the occasion, Dr. Idris Omede, said the State Government has constituted an Emergency Rapid Response Committee to ensure that the State is not affected by the disease.
Dr. Omede, charged the people to be hygienic, be watchful of the meat they consume and report unusual cases to health workers.
Also speaking, Hajia Maimuna Umar, Special Adviser to the Governor on Health Matters, disclosed that as community health and extension workers, who are at the grassroots, they have a greater role to play in the sensitization and prevention of the diseases at the grassroots.
She called for collaboration by all stakeholders in ensuring that the State remains free of the virus.
