Speaking at the unveiling ceremony in Lokoja on Monday, the State Commissioner for Education, Hon Wemi Jones, reiterated the avowed commitment of Governor Usman Ododo-led administration to improve welfare of students and make education attractive for all.

The Commissioner said the revived scholarship scheme is part of the ten years Kogi State Development Plan and encouraged students to enroll for the exercise.

He announced that the portal will be open for pre-qualification on Tuesday, April 16 and will close on April 30.

He applauded the vision of immediate past Governor of the state, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, that catalyzed the fast paced development witnessed in the state education sector.

In his address, the Executive Chairman of Kogi State Scholarship Board, Mr. Afolabi Joseph Raji, noted that the bursary award is strictly for students of Kogi origin in tertiary institutions across the country.

According to him, students are to log in to www.scholarshipboard.kogistate.gov.ng even with their smart phones.

He assured that the exercise will be transparent.

Special Adviser to Kogi State Governor on Youth and Student Affairs, Comrade Oladele John Nihi, tasked the scholarship board on wide publicity to ensure no student is left behind.

Nihi urged the scholarship board to engage the national secretariat of National Association of Kogi State Students (NAKOSS) in disseminating information pertaining to the scheme to its local chapters across the country.

He assured students that the Governor Ododo-led administration will fulfil all promises made to them with precision.

President of NAKOSS, Comrade Jeremiah Elukpo, urged Kogi students to register for the bursary, saying the state government meant well for them.
