Kogi Govt Committed to Improved Living Standard

Kogi State Government says it would not shirk in its responsibilities in ensuring that life is made easier for its citizens.

 

Kogi State Deputy Governor, Yomi Awoniyi gave the indication following the directives of the State Governor, Capt Idris Wada, to carry out an on the spot assessment of work needed to be carried out on the portion of the road at Orokere Amuro, in Mopamuro LGA that is causing hardship on residents and motorists .

 

The Kabba Egbe Ilorin Road, Awoniyi disclosed is a Federal Government road, and has already been awarded to a contractor, says while work has not reached the portion that is already made impassable in Amuro, owing to water cutting across a section of the road, and thus causing untold hardship to residents and motorists, the state government the Deputy Governor disclosed has undertaken to do some palliative work on the road.

 

Awoniyi appealed for more time from the people to enable the administration of President Mohammadu Buhari settle down, said soon the contractor who was awarded the Kabba Egbe Road project would return to site, once the new administration verify the project status, to continue with the comprehensive work on the road.

 

Awoniyi said government at all levels are concerned and making efforts to ensure that work on the Kabba Egbe Road is completed, but lamented a situation where people choose to politicize the issue of the road project, making it look as if it is a State Government Road.

 

Awoniyi called on the people to see the administration of Capt Idris Wada as one that shares their pain, appreciates their sacrifice and is working tirelessly to make life worth living, amidst paucity of funds to the state government.

 

Awoniyi thanked the people of Amuro for their resilient, and support to the Capt Wada administration, assured of more amenities to the area as soon as the finances of government is improved upon.

 

Earlier in a remarks, Engr Onumdi, Special Adviser to the Governor on Infrastructure, said the work which is expected to open up new water channels, create drainages and diverted the flow of the water from the road would on completion bring relief to people of the area, commended the state government for been sensitive to the plight of the people.
