Kogi state government has commenced reconstruction and rehabilitation work on township roads in Lokoja, the state capital, spanning 9 kilometers.

Aside Lokoja township roads, the state government said it is committed to completing all ongoing road construction projects in urban and rural areas.

The State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello commended contractors handling reconstruction and rehabilitation of township roads across the state.

Governor Yahaya Bello gave the commendation while inspecting reconstruction work in Idah on Wednesday.

Represented by the Commissioner for Works and Housing, Engr Abubakar Ohere, the Governor assured the people of Kogi East senatorial district of his administration’s determination to leave a legacy of quality work in the state.

He stated that all projects constructed under this administration will stand the test of time because of the quality of contractors engaged and the high level of monitoring team from the Ministry of Works and Housing.

“The Ministry of Works and Housing had demonstrated a strong passion for ongoing projects across the state to fulfill this administration’s promise of bridging the infrastructure gap in the state.

“Final portions of the roads at Anyigba, Ejule and Idah are undergoing surface dressing before final Asphalt overlay.

“It is important that I correct the wrong impression by the people that work is not going on at construction sites. We are working to meet up with the deadline and at the same time subjecting all the work to quality assurance test to deliver a good job,’’ he said.

He assured the people of Kogi state of the commitment of the government to complete all the ongoing projects.
