The Kogi State Government has expressed gratitude to the Federal Government for the contract award of the dualisation of Lokoja to Benin Road, even as it solicits the construction of Obajana – Egbe – Ilorin roads.
Kogi State Governor, Capt. Idris Wada who was represented by his Deputy Yomi Awoniyi, expressed the States gratitude when he received in audience, the Federal Controller of Works, Kogi State and the Zonal Director, Federal Emergency Road Management Agency, Engr. Aigbe Osayi and Engr. Femi Kayode in his office.
The Governor disclosed that good road remains cardinal to the socio – economic well being of any society, once again called on the Federal Government to construct the Obajana – Ilorin road in view of its importance to the socio – economic development of the nation.
While promising to partner with the Federal Ministry of Works in the State on ways aimed at improving all federal roads passing through the state, the State Government he disclosed will soon assent to the bill passed on the establishment of the state road maintenance agency.
The State Government promised necessary support to the contractor carrying out maintenance works along Lokoja – Abuja road leading to the turbine in the State.
The Governor equally solicited the support of the Ministry of Works in the introduction of three interchanges along the on – going dualisation of the Lokoja – Abuja road.
The State, Wada explained has given approval for the review of the Lokoja Master Plan, solicited the support of the Federal Ministry of Works in human capital and technical assistance for the development of the State.
Earlier in his speech, Engr. Aigbe Osayi, the Kogi State Federal Controller of Works, said the road dualisation from Lokoja will soon commence as the contractor has been mobilized.
Similarly, the Ekpe – Omaron, Ajaokuta – Okene and the Obajana – Ilorin roads are to be maintained in the interim until approval for the construction is given. The works controllers solicited security for its contractors and called for partnership from the State Government to urgently attend to vital Federal roads that passes the State.
