Alhaji Murtala Yakubu Ajaka, the candidate of Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the 2023 governorship election in Kogi state, has assured his supporters of his resolve to reclaim their “stolen mandate”.

In a statement on Friday, Ajaka urged the people of Kogi state not to be discouraged but remain resilient.

Ajaka, who expressed gratitude to Kogi electorate, said “on this warm Friday, I want to take a moment to extend my heartfelt gratitude to every one of you who have tirelessly stood by our cause, no matter the challenges we face. Overcoming oppression and intimidation is never easy, but together, we can find the strength to rise above it and achieve victory.

“I want you to remember that our fight is not just about us; it is about creating a better future for all. It is about standing up for justice, equality, and compassion. The path we have chosen may be filled with obstacles, but let us not forget that history is shaped by the persistence and resilience of those who refuse to surrender.

“In the face of long adversity we’ve faced in Kogi, it is easy to feel discouraged. Doubts may creep in, and fear may try to cloud our vision. But we must never lose sight of our goals and the positive change we hope to create in our beloved State. Remember the passion and conviction that brought us together, and let it fuel your spirit to chat a new direction for Kogi State and her lovely people..

“Together, we possess an incredible power. The power to mobilize, inspire, and unite. Let us use this power wisely, harnessing it to illuminate the darkest corners, expose the truth, and uplift those who have been silenced or marginalized. Each action we take, and every conversation we have, has the potential to plant a seed of change.

“So, my parents, my friends, followers and all Kogites, I urge you all to stay strong and committed. Walk with your head held high and your heart full of hope. Embrace the warmth of solidarity, knowing that we are not alone in this journey. From our end, we are doing everything within our power to reclaim our stolen mandate and together, we will push through the barriers, overcome every obstacle, and emerge triumphant.

“Victory is not simply about winning an election or achieving a specific political goal. It is about staying true to our values and continuing to fight for what is right, no matter the circumstances. Our resilience will be our greatest weapon against oppression, intimidation, and any other forces that try to bring us down.

“Believe in yourselves, believe in our cause, and most importantly, believe in the power of unity. The road may be long, but remember, we are not alone. So, let us persist, inspire each other, and spread the warmth of hope to all corners of our community.

“Together, we will overcome, thrive, and create the Kogi we can all be proud of.”

Ajaka is currently challenging the election of Governor Usman Ododo of the All Progressive Congress (APC) at the governorship election petition tribunal, as well as his non qualification to even contest the primary election of the party.
