Candidate of Action Alliance in the November 11 governorship election in Kogi state, Otunba Olayinka Braimoh has promised to develop the sports sector of the state’s economy.

Speaking with our reporter in Abuja, Braimoh said the Action alliance administration will give optimum attention to sports by creating enabling facilities for talents to develop.

He stated that “Research has shown that those that excelled in sports are people that had opportunity of living in close proximities to sports complexes.”

“We are going to ensure that in every community, we have sport complexes that will be closer to the people. This will help us identify and develop talents across the sporting world.

“We have history in sports. Years past, Idah and Isanlu dominated the national handball scenes. In beach soccer, Kogi state dominated the national scene. We have football stars from Kogi state and a whole lot of other success stories.

“We will not allow these success stories to die. We will develop our sports sector. We will pay close attention coupled with huge investments into this important sector of the economy.

“We will ensure Kogi United Football Club taste Nigerian Premier League action for the first time since its establishment. We will provide international standard facilities for the beach soccer. Lawn tennis, basketball, volleyball and others across the major sporting industry,” he said.

Braimoh pledged that the Action Alliance administration will ensure there are opportunities for the people of Kogi state to develop themselves in sports, adding that this is also human capital development.
