The All Progressives Congress (APC) has declared the former Auditor General for Local Governments in Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo as the winner of its governorship primary election conducted across the state on Friday.
Hon. Patrick Obahiagbon, Secretary of the Kogi State APC Primary Election Committee who announced the results declared Ododo as the winner of the primary election and emergence as the party’s flagbearer in the forthcoming November 11, election.
Ododo polled 78,704 votes to beat other six candidates that contested the party’s governorship primary of the party held across the state on Friday.
Patrick Obahiagbon, the Secretary of the committee that conducted the governorship primary election announced the results in Lokoja in the early hours of Saturday.
He said 83, 419 persons participated in the election.
According to Obahiagbon, seven aspirants eventually contested the primary election as against 17 aspirants that paid N60 million for the election forms.
He listed other contestants and their scores to include Senator Smart Adeyemi, 311 votes; Prof Stephen Ocheni Ikani, 552; Dr Sanusi Ohiare, 424; Shuaib Abubakar Audu, 763; Yahaya Achimugu, 1,159 and Ahmed Ozigi, 1,506.
Governor Bello Matawale of Zamfara State is the Chairman of the electoral committee.
