Member representing Adavi-Okehi federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Engr Joseph Asuku Bello has congratulated Governor Yahaya Bello and Chief Edward Onoja on the duo’s victory at the election petition tribunal.

In a statement issued in Abuja on Monday, the lawmaker expressed optimism that Governor Bello will win all cases challenging his election up to the Supreme court.

The Reps member called on the governor continue with the good works he is doing for the people of Kogi state.

“Your Excellency Sir, the people of Adavi/Okehi Federal Constituency are largely excited at the news, that the election matter instituted against you by Barr. Natasha Akpoti, Candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the November 16th Governorship election in Kogi State, was roundly dismissed by the panel of Judges at the Tribunal,” he said.

The Kogi State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja, on Monday, dismissed the petition filed by the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and its candidate, Natasha Akpoti, on the election held last year.

SDP and Ms Akpoti had filed the petition to challenge the return of Governor Yahaya Bello of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on the grounds that the governorship poll was marred with irregularities.

The respondents in the suit are the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the APC and Mr Bello.

But while delivering judgement in the suit on Monday, the three-member tribunal led by Justice Kashim Kaigama held that the petition failed woefully.
