Ahead of the November governorship election in Kogi State, market men and women in Okene local government area have endorsed the candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Alh. Usman Ahmed Ododo as the next governor of the state.
They pledge to mobilize all traders to vote massively for APC in the forthcoming gubernatorial election.
The traders announced their decision at an interactive session with the Chairman of the local government, Engr. Abdulrazaq Muhammad at the council secretariat in Okene on Tuesday.
Mr Abu, Hajia Kahdijat Ahmed, some elders and other prominent leaders of the market took time to assure the council chairman of their readiness to participate in all electioneering campaigns, vote massively for APC and protect their votes in their respective polling units.
They said over 10,000 registered market men and women irrespective of age, class and location had registered and obtained their permanent voter’s card in readiness for the November governorship election.
Responding, the local government chairman appreciated the traders for their commitment towards reciprocating the work of Gov. Yahaya Bello by voting massively for his worthy choice of successor, Alh. Usman Ahmed Ododo.
The Chairman described Okene market men and women as his long-time political partners whose electoral strength, loyalty to APC and voting records can not be over-emphasized especially in the last 8years of Gov. Yahaya Bello’s administration.
He assured them of their due recognition and consideration before and after the election.
