We, the embittered youths from Eziogu clan in Okene local government area of Kogi state may withdraw our support for Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello’s re-election bid.

This is a reaction of Eziogu Youth in response to message delivered to them in the chairman’s office by the Sole Administrator himself, Engr. Abdulrazak Mohammed Yusuf and one Alhaji Yahaya Karaku.

The message was allegedly credited to his Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello and his Special Adviser on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Engr. Abubakar Ohere.

According to sources present at the meeting on 9th May, 2019, the Administrator and one Alhaji Yahaya Karaku gathered Eziogu traditional rulers and youth to inform them that the government has stripped us of our hard earned, recovered Attaship title and given back to HRM Dr. Ado Ibrahim, to be merged with his Ohinoyiship.

Recalled that the Attaship tittle originally belong to Eziogu extraction (1902 to 1917) and was lost to a maternal grand son. After exactly 100 years, on 22nd February 2007, Eziogu recovered the title and fought hard to enthrone the late Alhaji Mohammed Otaru whom we painfully lost on the 22nd May, 2018. Already, the replacement has been made on 28th February 2019, awaiting the official ceremony very soon.

To the Eziogu’s chagrin, our sources at the controversial meeting substantiated informed that the Ogu traditional rulers and youths were told that the decision to strip us of the Atta title by the government of Gov. Yahaya Adoza Bello was informed by the supreme court judgment in favour of Dr. Ado Ibrahim.

Everybody present were stunned and dumbfounded until Prince Mohammed Sanni Atta cried out and demanded for a minority opinion so that it will be on record for posterity sake, which they reluctantly obliged. His Royal Highness, the Ozumi of Okene and the District Head for Okene were in attendance among others.

What the Ogu youth are saying now is, can government give out what they don’t have, especially traditional and ancestral titles? If the answer is no, where did the officials of government get their information from?

Besides, are they conspiring or conniving to ruin or run down the government that feed them? What a Judas among the disciples of Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello. Video records of the entire scenario is available for those that care to know more.

Most pertinent question we are asking is that, is it true that the government we supported en masse really directed its appointees to illegally take away our ancestral traditional ‘Atta’ title and hand it over to HRM Dr. Ado Ibrahim? If the answer in no, the government need to query the conspirators to show reasons for impersonating and misinforming their supporters mischievously. If yes, then the government need to tender an unreserved apology to Eziogu in entirety for attempting to rob them of their right.
