A grassroot political mobilization group, Obidient Movement, has affirmed the Hon Murtala Yakubu Ajaka of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) as its consensus candidate for November 11, 2023 governorship election in Kogi state.
Murtala Ajaka emerged the consensus candidate at the Obidient Movement’s 55th State Executive Council meeting on Wednesday.
In a press statement made available to newsmen shortly after the meeting that lasted into late night of Wednesday, the State Coordinator, Comrade Sunday Bala Oma thanked all Obidient stakeholders in Kogi state for participating in the rigorous exercise that produced the SDP candidate.
Recall that the trio of Murtala Ajaka of SDP, Leke Abejide of ADC and Sam Omale of YPP made the final list of the consensus arrangement, beating other 15 governorship candidates due to their track records in terms of human capital and community development.
“The final session was keenly contested and has produced Hon Murtala Ajaka as our consensus candidate. We call on all Obidients to rally round his candidacy and ensure he is declared winner of the election, come 11th November 2023, God sparing our lives,” Comrade Bala Oma said.
Dr. Bala Oma urged other candidates to drop their ambitions and support the consensus arrangement in the overall interest of the state.
He tasked Murtala Ajaka to carry other candidates along once he emerge victorious at the polls.
