Kogi Gov’ship: Kingsley Idoko Ilona Replaces Abdulazeez as APGA Candidate

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Kogi State on Wednesday picked a businessman, Mr. Kingsley Idoko Ilona, as the party’s standard-bearer for the 2023 Kogi gubernatorial election.

Ilona was elected during the candidate replacement primary election of the party which took place at SAATOF hotel in Lokoja, Kogi State.

Ilona, who was elected by voice votes by the congress, replaced AbdulAzzez Arokoya, who resigned as the candidate of the party.

The Chairman Electoral Committee of the party, Ben Nweke while speaking during the event, said that the choice of Kingsley Ilona’s candidature was based on his track record of experience in humanitarian services and marketable qualities to deliver APGA at the polls.

“Record of Kingsley Ilona’s success story both in business and humanitarian endeavour will no doubt take Kogi state to the next level of development if given the opportunity to rule the state.

“Our choice of Kingsley Idoko Ilona as the party’s flag bearer is a divine mandate as he has the capacity to lead the state to the promised land.

“Kogi under APGA will be greater and be able to witness unprecedented accelerated development in the years ahead,” Nweke said.

In his acceptance speech, Ilona promised to move the state forward, adding that the issue of percentage salary will be overcome by his administration if elected.

He promised to improve the state’s internal revenue generation so that this will augment allocation that comes from federal government.

He assured the people of Kogi State that his administration will not joke with the health, education and development of the state, noting that Kogi can surpass Lagos in terms of development if the government is serious and ready to work without consuming the state financially.

“Priority therefore, would be given to the agricultural and Industrialization of the state to boost revenue generation and tackle unemployment in the state

“Special attention would also be giving in ensuring equity and justice in the distribution of the state’s resources irrespective of ethic, political and religious background as well as quality education and healthcare services,” he promised.

He assured members of his party that APGA will not disappoint them, adding that the uniqueness of the party will make the difference if elected as the next governor of the state.
