Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello has told the people of crisis-hit Bassa Kwomu and Egbura Mozum to live together peacefully.

He was speaking during a meeting with traditional leaders, Local Government Administrators, House of Assembly Members, security agents and other stake holders from the two communities.

The governor called for the immediate return of persons displaced by last year’s communal clash that left several people dead and property destroyed.

He said the responsibility of returning the displaced persons to the affected communities, rests with a committee to be headed by the State Deputy Governor, Edward Onoja.

The State Commissioner of Police, Ayuba Ede said he will work in line with the Governor’s directive to restore normalcy to the troubled area

State security adviser Jerry Omodara said drastic measures must be taken to address recent killings in the area, adding that Government will do everything possible to maintain peace between the two Communities.

He called on traditional and other leaders of influence to caution the people against causing future crises.

The face-off between the Bassa kwomu and Egbura Mosun  communities began in September 2016 over a disputed piece of land.
