Kogi state governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, has reiterated his administration determination to go after those who stole the common wealth of the people in the past years and ensure its recovery and given back to them.
The governor, who stated this on Monday during the inauguration of 54 senior and special assistants, said the appointees should not see their appointments as an opportunity to enrich themselves.
Bello, who was over whelmed by the large turnout of supporters from all works of life to grace the occasion in Lokoja, disclosed that in the past, some government appointees looted and diverted funds meant for the development of the state to erect filling stations, hotels and housing estates at the expenses of the people.
“We must go after them to recover the looted funds for use of the common people in the state,” he stated.
He charged the new appointees to embark on selfless services as well as make sacrifices to better the lives of the people who elected the government.
The governor stressed that anyone who is not ready to serve will be shown the way out.
In a vote of thanks, Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Entertainment to the Governor, Mrs. Mercy Johnson Okojie commended the Governor for being gender sensitive adding that he has united the people of the state ever than before through people’s oriented policies and programmes.
Mrs. Okojie, who is a renowned Nollywood actress, hails from Okene Local government area of the state
