Kogi Gov Race: “My Second Tenure is in the Hand of God” – Wada

Barely a month to the state congress of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Kogi state when Primary Election will be conducted to produce the flag bearer for the October governorship election, incumbent Governor, Captain Idris Wada is yet to take a position, saying ” the issue of second term is in the hand of Almighty”.

The Governor made the statement when he hosted journalists to the break of Ramadan fast on Tuesday at the Government House, Lokoja. He admonished Journalists and the entire people of the state to dedicate every given opportunity to prayers in the spirit of Ramadan.

Captain Wada who said he was aware of the feelings of his supporters on the need for him to run for a second term, advised them to be prayerful as it is only God that gives power to whoever He wishes and takes it at His will.

He said the major concern of his administration was to ensure dividends of democracy and payment of workers salaries, pointing out that all problems facing the state will soon be a thing of the past.

Wada disclosed that with the states governors’ meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari, all hands should be on deck to meet up the present challenges so as to prepare for the future.

The governor used the occasion to announce that last month’s salary has been paid, calling on workers to be patient as all their entitlements will soon be paid.

Captain Wada who thanked Journalists for honouring his invitation for the Ramadan dinner,urged them to continue to perform their duties professionally and objectively.

He admonished them to remain united, faithful and fast properly in accordance with God’s injunction.

In his remarks, Chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Kogi state Council, Alhaji Ali Ataboh hailed the Governor for initiating projects that have positive impact on the people.

Ataboh, who is also the Senior Special Adviser SSA on Igalamela/Odolu local government council, advised the governor not to take loans to pay salaries, instead the state should look into other revenue earning ventures that could put the state on a balanced economic scale.
