Kogi State Governor, Alh. Yahaya Bello has released N2 billion for the part payment of salaries and severance benefits of the immediate past political office holders in all the 21 local government councils of the state.
The former public servants includes chairmen, vice-chairmen, LG secretaries, councillors and supervisors.
The governor stated this when the Chairman, National Councilors Forum, Kogi State Chapter, Musa Adakeke and the Secretary, Muhammed Omale led their members on thank you visit to the governor recently.
Bello said his administration will continue to welcome whoever was ready to work with him, stressing that the state belongs to everybody irrespective of political inclination.
“The money is to pay former former political office holders of local government councils part of their salary and severance package owed by the immediate past administration.”
The governor also used the visit to renew his pledge to take care of civil servant in the state noting that virtually all genuine workers have been paid up till December.
He further donated an 18 sitter bus for the forum and promised to appoint their members to key position in his “New Direction” administration.
Chairman of the forum, Musa Adekeke in his address thanked the governor for releasing the money, and tasked him to ensure the transformation of the state in the area of infrastructure in both rural and urban areas.
“This will help in no small measures to engage handful number of our youth on gainful employment thereby reducing the incidences of crime rate in the state and its environs.”
The Chairman further appealed to the governor to provide 5,000 APC membership cards to them and their numerous supporters and approve a date for their official and formal decamping to All Progressive Congress, APC.
