Kogi State will soon join the league of states with its own television station as arrangements have reached advance stage to establish the station.
This was disclosed by the Commissioner for Special Duties, Science and Technology and Information, Professor Aaron Baba, yesterday when he met with members of the correspondents’ chapel of the Kogi State council of the Nigerian Union of journalists (NUJ).
The commissioner stated that the government had already approached the Nigerian Broad- casting Commission (NBC) to fashion out modalities for the establishment of a TV station, adding that the business of information dissemination is considered by government as crucial, thus, making the call at this time of the state’s transition very significant.
He noted that the only snag to the establishment was that, right now one cannot establish a TV station based on digital model and because nearly all the operating TV stations across the country were still using the analogue model.
