- KEDCO will soon take over the responsibility of power distribution in Kogi state.
Kogi State Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC) has expressed its preparedness to collaborate with Light Up Movement.
Chairman of the KERC, Ibrahim Sunday Abdulwaris, made this known when he played host to the leadership of Light Up Movement at the commission’s head office in Lokoja on Wednesday.
He said from the objectives of the movement that he has gathered, the set aims of the two organizations aligned, noting the need for the duo to close ranks.
He pledged the commission’s readiness to collaborate with the movement in its forthcoming stakeholders engagement scheduled for later in the year.
The chairman announced that a new electricity company, the Kogi State Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO), will soon come on stream and take over the responsibility of power distribution in the state.
Earlier in his address, the Chairman of the movement, Comrade Iliyasu Zakari said the formation of the Commission came at a time the movement was already working on a bill for its formation.

He expressed the readiness of the movement to work closely with the commission.
Other commissioners in the commission highlighted the legal and engineering modus of the commission and said they were prepared to face the task of the new electricity dispensation in the state.
