The Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission (KOSIEC) on Sunday announced the consolidated results of the state’s local government council elections, confirming winners of chairmanship and councillorship contests held a day earlier across all 21 local government areas.

Commission Chairman Mamman Nda Eri made the announcement in a statewide broadcast. He said the commission had received and verified official returns from returning officers in the 21 local government areas and 239 electoral wards.

According to the announced results, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has emerged victorious in the October 17, 2026 Kogi State Local Government Council elections, winning all 21 chairmanship seats and 239 councillorship positions across the state.

Voters went to the polls Saturday to choose chairmen and councillors to run the councils and represent the wards.

“Our responsibility as an electoral management body is not to decide who wins or loses,” Eri said, adding that the commission’s role is to provide a fair, transparent and credible process.

He said returning officers declared results at designated collation centres after voting, counting and collation. The commission, he said, confirmed the successful candidates as returned by those officers, in line with applicable electoral laws and guidelines.

The broadcast did not give vote tallies, party breakdowns or the names of winners. Eri said detailed results, including candidates’ names, parties, local government areas and wards, would be published through the commission’s official communication channels.

Eri congratulated the winners and urged them to govern with “humility, fairness, accountability and a genuine commitment to the welfare of the people.” He commended those who lost for taking part and urged them to pursue any grievances through lawful means.

He called on citizens, political leaders and supporters to remain peaceful and united. “Elections are not a battle between enemies,” he said. “They are a democratic contest among citizens who share a common destiny.”

Eri thanked Gov. Ahmed Usman Ododo for what he called institutional support that enabled the commission to carry out its duties. He also praised security agencies, political parties, observers, civil society groups, traditional and religious leaders and the media.
