Kogi Education Commissioner Reiterates Gov Ododo’s Commitment to Free, Qualitative Education

Kogi State Commissioner for Education Hon. Wemi Jones said Education is the pivotal focal point of Governor Ododo’s administration, noting that every learner in Public Schools in the State has access to free and qualitative Education.

The Commissioner made this known on Wednesday in Lokoja when he received the State Executive of the National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives (NANNM) on a courtesy visit.

He stated that the State Executive Governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo has made it a point of responsibility to ensure that Pupils and Students in Public Schools across the state complete their Education by ensuring that no school fees are paid and all exit examinations are written free.

According to him, the Government has strived to ensure that every child in the State as long as he/she is in public school is educated free and also ensure the payment of all their exit examinations to enable them complete their education at the Basic and Secondary Education levels. This he said is done irrespective of tribes, ethnic and religious affiliation.

He added that for learners in Private Schools, even though the Government has no capacity to pay their examination fees for now, the State has continued to implement and domesticate policies that regulate what they are being taught in schools.

The Policies, he said are in line with the National Education Policies and are geared towards ensuring that Pupils and Students in the State measure up with the global standards, adding that the State Government will not live any stone unturned until poverty is reduced to the bearest minimum.

He commended the Association for their contributions to the overall healthcare delivery in the state and promised the ministry’s readiness to work with the Association for the total well-being of Learners in the State.

In his address, the State Chairman of the National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives (NANNM) Comrade Umar Suleiman Bako informed the Commissioner that they were in the office to Congratulate one of their members who was appointed as the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education.

He commended the Governor for appointing Mr. Alabi Albert Bamigbade as the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, saying that his appointment is a reward for excellence and dedication to duty

Comrade Umar noted that the Permanent Secretary will not betray the responsibilities he has been assigned and called for cooperation to enable him to succeed in the office.

Earlier, the Permanent Secretary Mr Alabi Albert Bamigbade thanked the Governor for the opportunity given to him to serve.

He commended the Commissioner for his work ethics and his resolve to ensuring that education in the state is taken to a higher height.
