Kogi Education Commissioner Monitors Private Schools to Ensures Compliance with New Policies

The Kogi State Commissioner for Education, Hon. Wemi Jones, has embarked on a mission to ensure that private schools in the state comply with the new policies implemented by the State and Federal Governments.

Jones paid unscheduled visits to several private schools in Kogi, emphasizing the need for adherence to the policies, guidelines, and rules of the Ministry of Education.

During the visits, Jones emphasized the importance of compliance with key policies, including: Ensuring that schools adhere to the approved graduation schedules and protocols.

Other policies are: Implementing the new curriculum as prescribed by the Ministry of Education, and Teachers Registration Council (TRCN) by ensuring that all teachers in private schools are registered and certified in line with the teachers’ regulatory body.

The Commissioner urged school proprietors and principals to work in line with the Ministry’s policies, guidelines, and rules,

Jones stressed that compliance is crucial for maintaining standards in education.

He also warned against extorting students and emphasized the government’s commitment to upholding the free education policy.

The Commissioner’s unscheduled visits demonstrate the government’s determination to ensure quality education and compliance with regulatory standards in Kogi State.

The exercise is expected to continue, with Jones reiterating his commitment to enforcing the policies and guidelines that govern education in the state.

Some of the schools visited by the Commissioner include: Scintillate, Effective Science College, Majesty International College, Harmony College, Celebrity International School, Lokoja, among others.
