The Kogi State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Hon. Wemi Jones, has expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the ongoing mock examination across the state.
Jones disclosed this after monitoring the conduct of the mock examination in some schools in Lokoja metropolis on Thursday.
The Commissioner said that the state was prepared for the external examinations in the state.
“I am really impressed with all I have seen, and from my interaction with the exam officers in schools visited, I think we are ready. Materials are adequate and the atmosphere is very conducive”, he said.
According to him, the Mock examination is made compulsory to ensure standardisation, uniformity and improved educational standard in the state.
He assured that the state would continue to improve on its educational standards under the administration of Governor Yahaya Bello.
“We did so well in WAEC in 2020, we want to keep doing well; we want to improve on our records. We want to keep innovating and improving on our performances”, he said.
He advised the candidates not to shortchange themselves by cheating but rather assess their true performances in the Mock examination and work harder towards the external examinations.
In their separate comments, the Exam Officers, Mr. Barkie Bamidele, Mr. Ayeoribe Jaiyeola, and Mr. Ige David, of Crowther Memorial College, Bishop Delisle College, and Harmony Secondary School, Lokoja respectively; all assured the commissioner of adequacy and safety of examination materials.
Other schools visited were: Govt. Day Secondary School, Adankolo, Scintillate International School, Lokoja, among others.
The News of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the commissioner was accompanied by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Pastor Emmanuel Idenyi and other officers of the Ministry.
