The Forum of Igala Workers and Legislative Aides in the National Assembly have throw their weight behind Senate Atai Aidoko Ali to continue to represent Kogi East‎ in the 8th Senate.
The forum and aides in a joint ‎statement and solidarity message signed by Musa Tahir, congratulated the Aidoko for surviving his political and legal travails and promised to continue to support his people oriented programs.
The Forum described Senator Aidoko as a good ambassador who is transparent, accessible‎ and all encompassing. They prayed that God will see him through the unending litigation.
The groups thanked the Senator for always granting constituents request for audience, even on short notice. They urged him to sustain the trend throughout his stay at the senate.
The forum recalled how Aidoko’s predecessor, during his short stay, ‎turned down meeting the members of the bodies by setting aside Fridays as visiting days, only to turn down audience with the people. They accused his predecessor of referring constituents to his private office in town.
“Often times when you visit the office, you normally meet military men in uniform barring people from visiting the office.
“The current senator, Atai Aidoko Ali has never prevented any visitor from seeing him or set aside any date to attend to people without reservations. That alone is enough deserves commendations.
“How can you have a representative that you cannot access the office as his constituents? This trend of military orientation and mentality cannot not thrive in a democratic dispensation,” they said.
They urged the current senator to sustain the trend as political offices remain a‎ public office were avenues are created to attend and interact with a view to knowing the problems and proffer solutions as appropriate.
