Kogi East Senate Tussle: Appeal Court Proceeds on Annual Vacation, to Resume October

Court of Appeal Judges has proceeded on annual vacation without provision for vacation cases and will resume in October for further hearing of all cases including the endless litigation on Kogi East Senate seat.
Sources confirmed that during the annual lon‎g vacation, Judges of the court are expected to proceed on full holidays to enable them attend to various health challenges through medical tour, embark on seminars, workshops, talk shops and other relevant programs that will enhance their performance.
Kogi East senate battle is already at the Appeal Court for possible hearing and subsequent judgement. Senator Atai Aidoko filed the appeal to challenge the judgment of the lower court.
Sources at the Court of Appeal confirmed that the main contender to the seat, Air Marshal Isaac Alfa has been keeping vigil and had resorted to lobbying the management of the court to constitute a vacation judge to hear the matter. His efforts yielded no positive result despite support garnered from the top government officials and Kogi state government.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has commenced the process ‎to fill the Kogi East senate slot with the sale of intent form. Aidoko and Alfa are strong contenders for 2019 senate elections.
