Senator representing Kogi East at the National Assembly, Atai Aidoko Ali has appealed to the good people of the area and supporters of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to disregard the purported letter from Air Marshal Isaac Mohammed Alfa (Rtd) directing the people to vote against the party’s candidate.
He described Alfa’s letter as evidence of a drowning man without political value.
In a statement issued by Aidoko’s media office and signed by Abubakar Yusuf, the senator challenged the former Air Chief to render stewardship of his over 35 years in the public service of the Nigerian Air Force, where he rose to the top.
Yusuf described the statement from the former service chief as unbecoming, mischievous, malicious and prejudicial with both cases still subject to legal interpretation.
He accused Alfa of being supported by Federal and Kogi state governments to hijack the victory of the people of Kogi East.
The media aide said according to the letter from the former service chief, where he accused Aidoko of presenting “rogue and false documents to INEC”, Alfa was trying to play the role of a player and referee in a football competition.
“INEC has the clear provision for fielding of candidates by political parties in an election, the prerequisite that senator Aidoko had fulfilled and his name was published as Kogi East senatorial candidate for PDP in 2019 general elections.
“What Alfa is demonstrating is a script arranged and agreed between agents of Kogi state government and federal authorities to place the people of Kogi East in perpetual denial and access to social, economic and physical development.
“For somebody who had claimed victory at all levels of court and challenging the 2018 PDP primaries in the court of law, yet working against the election of the party’s candidate is a testimony of a betrayal of the Igala/Bassa race, public confidence and party loyalty.
“Air Marshal Alfa is a mole in PDP working with top government officials in Kogi to buy court judgements all round and subject the Igala race to endless litigation over the senate stool, capable of distracting the senator from delivering the dividends of democracy to the people in the next four years.
“He succeeded in doing this in the last four years from 2015 to date and he has started again. The people of Kogi East should by now identify him as enemy of the Igala/Bassa race, who never meant well for the area.
“For a public figure in his calibre that lost all his glory to the whims and caprices of his wife’s undoing in a public gathering, he does not deserve to be honoured by the people of Kogi East with any political office at all,” he said.
He urged the people of Kogi East to remain steadfast not to only vote Senator Aidoko because of his ranking advantage and political affiliation to PDP, but vote massively on Saturday for all PDP candidates from top to bottom, to ensure the termination of hardship, poverty and starvation imposed by the government of Yahaya Bello and Buhari.
