To the Good People of Kogi East (Igala-Bassa)
As we approach the 2027 general elections, our senatorial district stands at another defining moment in its political journey. This time, the conversation must move beyond slogans and party symbols. It must focus on one critical question: Who has the capacity, experience, and proven commitment to truly advance the interests of the people of Kogi East (Igala-Bassa) at the National Assembly?
Since the creation of our multi-ethnic state, Kogi East has produced leaders who strategically used the office of the Senate to secure equity and development. That legacy must continue. For this reason, we respectfully argue that Distinguished Senator Jibrin Isah Echocho (PhD) remains a political asset whom Kogi East cannot afford to overlook in the 2027 Senate race.

The Senate is not an entry level institution. It demands lawmakers who understand process, procedure, budgeting, and lobbying,how to convert constituency needs into federal policy and projects.

Our challenges are peculiar: inadequate federal presence, infrastructural gaps, youth unemployment, security concerns, and educational deficits. Our senator must legislate on these issues and lobby for targeted projects not abandon duties for social media clout.
Senator Echocho has demonstrated commitment to Healthcare, Agriculture, Human Capital Development, and Support for Windows, Orphans, and Youths. He understands the gap between policy and impact.
On Continuity, Capacity, and a Double Standard We Must Confront
In a civilized democracy, elections look to the future, but the future is built on lessons from the past. Kogi East needs a Senator with no learning curve, one who will sponsor and co-sponsor relevant bills, and effectively oversight federal agencies on projects meant for our people.
That is the value of a political asset: a leader whose experience becomes the people’s advantage. Senator Jibrin Isah Echocho (PhD) fits that description perfectly.
I have seen some people spend 16 to 20 years in the National Assembly, and I ask myself: is it a crime for Kogi State to produce such great leaders?
Can Kogi grow such a leader? Not if we continue to suffer from the “pull him down” syndrome. When other zones reward experience and longevity, why do we discard ours?
Democracy thrives when voters choose based on antecedents, not sentiments. Kogi East has a proud history of producing leaders who shape national discourse. To sustain that tradition, we must send representatives who combine intelligence, influence, local knowledge, legislative experience, and national reach.
