Deputy Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly and member representing Ankpa 1 constituency, Rt. Hon. Ahmed Mohammed has called on Igala students in diaspora to always be their brothers keeper, show love and live peacefully among themselves.

He disclosed this in his remark at the Igala Day celebration organised by Igala Students Association, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

He said one of the benefits of celebrating a day like this is to come together to help create a synergy and unity amongst the students.

“As students living far from home, you cannot afford to lose your potentials to division. You must see each other as brothers and sisters, together, we are stronger and more respected. The God that brought us together knew the strength in unity.

“As your representative and mouthpiece, I will never relent to be available anytime you need me. Our duty is to make sure the dividend of democracy reaches our people at the grassroots and we are achieving that with huge support from our indefatigable Governor of Kogi State, Alh. Yahaya Adoza Bello. What we need in Kogi State is good leadership and strong institutions which the present administration is will do more if we collectively give our support,” he said.

He further advised the students to take their academics more serious, describing it as a tool to brighter future and can reduce risky and deviant behaviours that correlate with youth violence such as criminal activity, drug use, teenage pregnancy, and political violence in the state.

He was later honoured by the ABU Postgraduate Representative Council as ‘An icon of humanitarian services and good leadership’ for his contributions towards legislative representation, philanthropic services and good leadership.
