Determined to disseminate vital information on government activities, the Kogi state government has restated its commitment to reposition the state radio station at Ochaja, Dekina local government area of the state.

Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello, represented by his Chief of Staff, Edward Onoja, disclosed this while reacting to the request by a delegation of the Forum of Igala Journalists (FORIJA) who paid him a courtesy call at the state liaison office, Asokoro, Abuja.

The governor said “the place of information in effective governance cannot be over-emphasised,” and promised that everything needed would be thrown to the works to ensure that the radio station “is repositioned for effective service delivery.”

President of FORIJA, Comrade Augustine Aminu, had earlier urged the state government to boost the operations of the station “with modern and up-to-date facilities so as to ensure that the people of the area are carried along and adequately sensitised on government programmes and activities.”

He added that “it will enhance the understanding of the people on what government is doing to better their lives, instead of depending on rumours, which is most times are orchestrated and peddled by mischief makers for premeditated ends.”

He commended the governor for the “relative security in the state,” noting that “with the peace and understanding returning to the state, rapid and steady development would ensue.”
