Kogi Central: Ihima Women Protest Enters Day 4, Shuts down Central Market

The protest against renewed political violence by Ihima women in Okehi local government area of Kogi State which started on Saturday has entered day four with the closure of central market in the area.

The women who has been on the street in the last four days calling for total peace and retrieval of guns distributed to the youths of the community said, they cannot go to the market while their community is on fire by the guns distributed to their sons by desperate politicians.

While they were out on Tuesday for the day four of the protest, the old women said since the beginning of the political violence in the community, it has claimed several lives, with fifteen houses razed, claimed properties worth millions of naira and several youths nursing the wounds sustained from gunshots.

Speaking on behalf of the women, Mrs. Abdulrahman said they can no longer seat at their houses and watch their children being killed and their houses and other valuables burnt by the thugs who were armed to cause confusion in the land in the name of politics, reiterating that the perpetrators of the heinous crimes must retrieve the guns distributed to their children to maim and kill themselves.
