Kogi-born NYSC Corp Member Donates Solar Powered Streetlight to Yerwa Community in Maiduguri

Onivehu Musa Habeeb, a serving National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has donated solar-powered street lights to Yerwa community of Maiduguri, Borno state.

Onivehu, an indigene of Kogi state with the state code number BO/21A/0261 is serving with Borno Investment Company Limited (BICL).

While commending Borno state government, ministry of housing and energy, and management of BICL for supporting his initiative, Onivehu said he planned to install fifteen streetlights but could not meet his targets.

He, however, pledged not to give up in the course of serving humanity as he will be returning back to his state of origin after the end of the service year.

Commissioning the project, Borno State NYSC State Coordinator, Mallam Nura Umar urged other corp members to emulate Onivehu.

Represented by the NYSC State Director Planning and Statistics, Alhaji Dangabarin, the State Coordinator explained that the community development service (CDS) is the second cardinal activity in the NYSC scheme aimed at encouraging corp members to partake in different activities that will bring development to the various communities.

He added that NYSC community services encompasses group CDS, selected corp members CDS and the personal CDS.

Vice Principal of Yerwa Girls Secondary School, Miss Rahi Isa Wakilamtu, commended Onivehu Habeeb for choosing the community for his project.

Miss Rahi Isa, who spoke on behalf of the community, urged NYSC corp members to embark on personal CDS with direct impact on society.

The leadership of the National Association of Ebira Students, University of Maiduguri chapter, were present at the commissioning.
