Kogi-born Engr Ali is New COREN President

Engr Kashim Abdul Ali has been elected the new president of council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) at an extra-ordinary meeting of the council.

Engr Ali, who was born on June 10, 1958 in Ofugo, Ankpa, Kogi State, is a registered engineer, fellow and past president of the Nigerian society of Engineers. Engr Ali is currently the Director of Transport at the Federal Capital Administration (FCTA).

Engr Kashim Abdul Ali takes over from Engr Ibikunle Ogunbayo who automatically assumed office as president, following the demise of Engr Mustapha Bulama on June 8, 2012.

“He was member of Nigeria Vision 20: 2020 steering and implementation committee and chairman of the sub-committee on physical institute. Engr Ali has held some other key positions such as co-chairman of the infrastructure policy commission of the Nigerian economic Sumit Group and member policy support group to the Economic Management Team 2008-2010.

“His working career started in Benue state Ministry of Works in 1982, before he joined the Federal Capital Development Authority in 1992, rising to the position of director and chief executive officer of the FCT Water board, special adviser (Utilities), director (Technical Services) of the Abuja Infrastructure Investment Centre,” the statement noted.
