Kogi-based Imam Links Rising Insecurity in Nigeria to Improper Upbringing of Children

The Imam of the Central Mosque, Egume in Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi state, Mallam Attai Mohammed has attributed the rising social vices and insecurity in Nigeria to lack of proper upbringing of children and subsequent romance with their bad peer groups.

Mallam Mohammed made the observation at the eighth-day Fidau Prayer for Late Hajia Hawawo Ibrahim, held at Akpala Idoko’s compound Adumu-Egume recently.

The Imam who charged parents and guardians to ensure adequate training of their wards to curb social vices in the society noted that it is obligatory for parents to be responsible for good upbringing of their wards with the fear of God to do what is right for the benefit of their immediate society.

“Once there is proper upbringing, it will enhance reciprocal gesture of children-to- parents care whenever they are blessed like the case of our son, Alhaji Mohammed Lawal Ibrahim.” he added.

He therefore, enjoined religious bodies to sustain their prayers for leaders in various positions of power so as to enable them govern with fear of God to alleviate the sufferings in the land.

Mallam Mohammed also stressed the need for religious bodies to pray fervently for the restoration of peace as well as riding Nigeria of criminal elements.

Special prayer was offered for the sustenance of peaceful coexistence amongst the children of Late Hawawo Ibrahim and the entire family by the Imam and other Islamic teachers.

Members of Egume Ome Descendants’ Union, Idoko Descendants and well-wishers attended the Fidau prayer.
