The Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Aliyu Umar Yusuf has enjoined Muslims in the state and across the country to imbibe the virtue of sacrifice for the good of the nation.
A press statement signed and made available to journalists in Lokoja by the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Yabagi Mohammed said Rt Hon Umar stated this in a message to mark this Year’s Eid – el – Kabir.
According to the statement, the speaker called on Muslims to continue to exemplify the sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim (AS), who was willing to give up his son in obedience to Almighty Allah.

The statement said he also called on Muslims to remember Kogi State and her government in their prayers during the period, stressing that the celebration is a solemn one, requiring dedication to prayers and responsible social interactions.
“The speaker particularly enjoined Muslims to expedite their prayers for the success of the administration of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and other government functionaries as they have demonstrated that their interest is the development of the state” the statement stressed.
“He used the occasion to specially express appreciation to members of the current Assembly for their unparalleled support for the leadership of the state legislature, and thanked them for being the backbone behind the progress being enjoyed by the Assembly” the statement concluded.
