The speaker State House of assembly, Honourable Momoh Jimoh Lawal, has given the various house committees one week ultimatum to submit all outstanding reports for further deliberations.The directive came today at the first plenary sitting after six weeks of recess to enable members observe the Ramadan festival.”Let us renew our commitments and devotion to the task of State building by making real our collective dream and passion for transformative chances in the economic, political and social lives of our people”, he said.
He called on members to offer more of themselves in the chamber, on the field of oversight functions and in analysis in committee rooms. Hon Lawal, commended the house committee members on Youth and sports, Education and Public Accounts for carrying out their constitutional responsibilities during the break.He also appreciated all the security agencies in the state for ensuring peaceful atmosphere and harmony throughout the period of the festival.
The speaker, while welcoming members, urged muslim faithful to use the lesson offered by the Ramadan to foster love, unity and peaceful co-existence among the different ethnic nationalities in the state for the sake of development and democracy.Earlier, the majority leader, Hon Yakubu Yunusa, welcomed members and urged various house committees to submit all pending report and those that have to organize public hearing to do so with immediate effect.During the plenary sitting, a secretary nominee from Ankpa Local Government Area, Abdullahi Oseni Ahmed was announced to be screened tomorrow.
