Kogi Assembly Makes Case for Confluence Beach Hotel

The Kogi State House of Assembly has on Thursday called on the state government to salvage the Confluence Beach Hotel from its current worrisome state.
The resolution of the House which came on the heels of a motion of urgent public importance by Haruna Idoko Musa of Idah State Constituency, enjoined the government to make adequate provisions for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the hotel in the 2018 Appropriation Bill.
The Minority Whip, Sunday Shigaba of Ibaji State Constituency seconding the motion was more concerned about how citizens treat government properties with disdain.
According to Shigaba, the Confluence Beach hotel ought to be a world class edifice and source of revenue if well funded.
Majority Leader, Abdullahi Bello Balogun revealed that the state government has spent over N1 billion on the facility and such cannot be abandoned.
Balogun sought for an additional prayer, that the building be protected from further damages by erecting water resistant wall.
While stressing on public private partnership as a way out, Obaro Pedro pleaded that the project be handed over to a more professional hotel consultant management for efficiency.
The Speaker, Matthew Kolawole who also threw his weight behind the motion, directed the House Committee on Works to take an oversight function on the project in order to give the government the best advice on what to do.
