Kogi Assembly Crisis: Kogi PDP Not Opposed To Reconciliation, Vows Not To Compromise Court Ruling

The Kogi State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, says it is not opposed to reconciliation in the State Assembly, says it will however not compromised on the victory won by the Group of 15 lawmakers, who were recently reinstated by the Federal High Court Abuja.

Chief Sam Abenemi, State Deputy Chairman of the party, made the clarification while fielding questions from newsmen after the party’s stakeholders meeting held in collaboration with Wada Stars an online platform, to review the alleged reconciliation of the G15 who had their leadership purportedly impeached by a Group of 5 lawmakers.

Abenemi says though the party is concern about peace and unity that will move the state forward, he however described the purported reconciliation allegedly masterminded by the Governor, after an Abuja Federal High Court has already ruled in favour of the G15 as contempt.

The Deputy Chairman, called on the governor to obey the ruling as a mark of respect for the rule of law, describing such obedience as the only genuine means to reconcile the state Assembly members.

While disclosing that the party did not mandate any one or group of persons to negotiate on its behalf, he warned that sanction await lawmakers who are members of the party should they try to undermine the supremacy of the Party.

The Deputy Chairman also disclosed that the Party and Capt Idris Wada, former Governor of the State and its Candidate in the November Governorship election has finally filed an appeal challenging the ruling of the Governorship Tribunal, says the party is optimistic of victory as it intends to pursue the case to its logical conclusion using all legal options.

Abenemi disclosed that the appeal which is anchored on thirty ground, averred that the decision of the governorship tribunal which denied his party of victory as unacceptable as it didn’t address the merit of the issues raised by the Petitioners.

Abenemi appealed to party members to be calm and to remain law abiding in the discharge of their duties, assuring that the party would come out victorious at the end.

The meeting which held at the state party’s secretariat, attracted party bigwigs from across the state, resolved to constantly hold meetings that will help inform members of development.
