Kogi APDA Calls for Assistance as Unprecedented Wind Storm Destroy Properties in Ankpa (Photos)

The Chairman of Advanced Peoples Democratic Alliance (APDA), Kogi State chapter, Honourable Abdulmumini Ibrahim has called on government, agencies and spirited individuals to come to the aid of wind storm victims in Ankpa, Kogi State.

Ibrahim, while addressing newsmen in Lokoja on Saturday, said the winds storm destroyed private and public buildings in Ankpa community.

According to the APDA chief, the winds storm lasted for few minutes but the effect was devastating.

“Rooftop of houses were blown-off, buildings destroyed. A prominent secondary school, YMCSS Ankpa was badly affected. 4 blocks of classrooms and examination hall were destroyed. Sadly, final year students are currently sitting for WAEC examinations in this hall.

“The gravity of this wind storm has not been experienced in Ankpa in recent times. Fear and destruction enveloped the entire community while it lasted, 50 meter visibility was not possible.

“APDA emphasize with landlords, tenants and school proprietors in Ankpa over the unfortunate natural disaster. As we speak, large number of the residents are terribly affected by the windstorm and are still homeless,” he said.

He called on the emergency management agencies, government at all levels and spirited individuals to come to the aid of victims if the wind storm.
