The Kogi APC Rescued Team has called on the national leadership of All Progressives Congress to set up a caretaker committee to oversee party affairs in the state.

In a statement signed by the president of the group, Hon. Aminudeen Ibrahim Ochika APC members in Kogi state have lost confidence in the leadership of both factions of the party.

Ochika bemoaned the lingering crisis that has engulfed the party since former Governor Abubakar Audu died.

“We have no confidence in both Abdullahi Bello and Hadi Ametuo’s factions of APC in Kogi State. APC, under the leadership of late Prince Abubakar Audu, was strong and truly progressive in Kogi state until his death.

“After Audu died, individuals in the party began fighting for selfish interest and that has caused the party serious harm. There is no faction among the warring two factions of the party in the state today that means well or represent the party’s legacy as we speak, they are out for a trade.

“While Abdullahi Bello was installed by Alh. Yahaya Bello’s government to get ticket easily, the Ametuo’s faction is out for the highest bidder. Today, you see him with Yahaya Bello, tomorrow you see him with another aspirant negotiating for personal gains. If Bello promise him a huge amount of money, he will endorse him, if he fails to pay him, he will change his mind and will continue like that till our party die in the State. Ametou is even dangerous to our party and should be expelled.

“After Audu died, he was with us looking for Justice in the court that Faleke be declared Governor, later he left us and joined Governor Yahaya Bello during inauguration, when he could not get what he wanted from Bello’s government, he came back. We held Congress where we returned him as state chairman and Governor organised another congress where Abdullahi Bello emerge as their factional chairman. Abdullahi Bello was inaugurated as Chairman with his men and we kicked, we went to court, the case was going on in the court and Ametou left us to join and work for Africa Democratic Congress (ADC) during general elections. For love we have for our party to get victory, we worked together with Bello’s faction, after the election, Ametuo came back to us to pursue the case in the court, the next move, he held meeting with Governor Bello and was promised a jumbo package. He came out that he will discontinue the case in the court.

“Ametuo is not straight forward and cannot be trusted. We can’t afford to loose this election in Kogi State. We therefore call on National Working Committee (NWC) of our great party under the leadership of His Excellency, Comrade Adams Oshiomohle to, as a matter of urgency, dissolve the two factional executives of the party in Kogi and set up a Caretaker Committee to handle the party activities from now till after governorship election in the State,” he said.

Ochika urged the NWC of the ruling party to act without delay to save APC from defeat in the November governorship election.
