The Kogi state factional chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Haddy Ametuo has confirmed that the Senator Alex Kadiri-led Kogi Elders Forum has resolved to meet with Governor Yahaya Bello on the lingering crisis in the party.
The estranged factional chairman made this known in a press statement released to newsmen on Saturday in reaction to allegations of financial inducement to support the second term aspiration of Governor Bello.
Ametuo described the allegations as cheap lies. He however confirmed that the Forum of Northern States Chairmen of the APC met with him to resolve the crisis between his camp and that of Governor Bello.
He also confirmed that Governor Bello has reached out to his faction.
“It is true that the governor invited us for a meeting but we have not even met. More than three years, we have been left out in the cold. Several efforts to make the governor to give us our dues as party executives did not yield any results. Now, he said he wants to meet with us, we have agreed to meet with him, we don’t even have an idea of what he’s going to tell us yet.
“Let it be clear that there is no way I will cooperate with any opposition party to make APC to lose Kogi State in the 2019 governorship election. We are in court for our rights and not because we want to help the opposition. We know where the concoction is coming from. Since the Supreme Court judgment of yesterday on the Zamfara crisis, a lot has been said about what will happen to APC in Kogi. It is in finding the way forward that the northern forum of (APC) chairmen met with me and prevailed on us to accede to the governor’s request for a meeting. The meeting is holding today. If the electorate feel that Yahaya Bello has failed them, let them vote him out,” he said.
Ametuo expressed confidence in the determination of the Alex Kadiri-led Kogi Elders Forum to ensure APC wins the November 16 governorship election in the state.
