Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has said the agricultural policies in the state “are creating a new circle of millionaires.”

The governor, who stated this in Lokoja during an interactive session with a group of young entrepreneurs in the state, assured the youth of his administration’s commitment to create the right atmosphere for “ambitious young minds to thrive.

“We have been highly rated for our performances in healthcare, security and agriculture. Our administration has deliberately focused on agriculture to provide food, jobs and security.

“As a young man, I know the limitless potentials in the youth. When they have the opportunities to deploy their energies to positive ventures, they are unstoppable. They have shown that in Kogi State.”

Bello tasked the youth to reciprocate the good gesture of his administration by using their opportunities in the agricultural sector to create wealth and jobs for the teeming populace of the state.

He said the Omi Dam Agricultural Project and the Osara Green House have saved the youth from the throes of criminality as they now practice “highly rewarding agriculture.”

According to Bello, “Kogi is the next big thing to happen. We have made tremendous progress in agriculture and we are proud of our achievements.

“Our government has shown what good governance can achieve with the energies and ingenuity of the youth.

“Osara and Omi have combined to give us amazing opportunities to place agriculture on the front burners of our economic renaissance. We are already a model for others to emulate.

“Let me use this opportunity to thank Mr. President for his leadership and drive in the agricultural sector. Nigeria is moving away from oil-dependent to agriculture- driven economy.”

The governor called on investors to tap into the opportunities in the agricultural sector of the state, saying the state is safe and conducive for investments.

Meanwhile, Bello has called on Nigerians to be patient with President Muhammadu Buhari as he battles to fix the country’s ailing economy and security challenges. Bello, who spoke yesterday after the Eid-el-Kabir prayer in his country home, Okene, said that the president has demonstrated unequalled ability in tackling the nation’s economic transformation in the last one year.

“The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) record shows that the economy of the country is growing on a daily basis. So, Mr. President is doing a good job.

“We are doing our best in Kogi State to make sure that we secure the lives and property of the people through continuous provision of security surveillance.”

The governor expressed confidence that President Buhari will win for another four-year term because “Nigerians believed in him and it is evident in the conduct of all the by-elections in the country recently.”

The governor also said that a total of 105,000 women will be empowered under his government empowerment programme designed to lift the state out of poverty.

He said the effort will go a long way in addressing the financial predicament of the aged people and the youth in the state.
