Kogi Agric Transformation Agenda Attracts Foreign Investments

Kogi State Government says its dogged determination in the Agricultural transformation programme has started yielding direct
foreign investment.

The State Governor, Capt. Idris Wada, made the disclosure when he received the Minister for Agricultural and Natural Resources, Dr.
Akinwumi Adeshina, who was in the State to monitor the growth enhancement programme and to sensitize farmers on the benefit of
collecting their seedlings and fertilizers.

Capt. Wada disclosed that the State Cassava value chain programme, with the efforts and support of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture is already getting foreign attention, thanked the Federal Government for its technical and other assistance towards its dry season rice
accelerated farming.

Capt. Wada added that the State has completely keyed into the Agricultural transformation agenda of the Federal Government as
espoused by President Goodluck Jonathan.

The State Governor also thanked the Federal Ministry of Agriculture for the approval of a boat yard, assured that the support will spur
the State to do more in the area of Agriculture.

The Governor who was represented by his Deputy, Yomi Awoniyi assured that every necessary media support needed to inform the people on the benefit of GES to farmers will be used to inform farmers across the State.

Earlier in her speech, Mrs. Ibukun Odusote, Permanent Secretary Federal Ministry of Agriculture, who represented the Minister,
described Kogi State under Capt. Idris Wada, as distinct in Agriculture.

She disclosed that towards the diversification of the economy of the nation, Agriculture remains key to the future especially with the
drying up of oil.

The Minister commended the State for its focus, and interest in Agriculture, appealed for assistance from the State that will enable
farmers collect their seedlings and fertilizers through GES.

Dr. Femi Abolarin, while speaking at the visit, commended the Federal Ministry of Agriculture for an approval to build a boat yard.

The boat yard he disclosed when operational will enable the building of fibre glass for aqua culture in the country and repair of boats.
Similarly, it will enable artisan fish farmer’s benefit from the growth enhancement program for fish farming.
