The ACN on Thursday in Abuja said it had begun preparations for the re-scheduled governorship elections in six states starting with Kogi in December.

The National Secretary of the party, Senator Lawal Shuaibu, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that this followed the release of the timetable by INEC on August 3.

The elections are to take place in Kogi, Dec. 3; Adamawa, Jan. 14, 2012; Bayelsa, Feb. 11, 2012; Sokoto, March 10, 2012; Cross River, April 14, 2012 and Edo, July 14, 2012.

Shuaibu said the party had limited time to prepare for the elections and urged the aspirants to mobilise for the exercise.

He said the party had four aspirants for the governorship elections in Kogi, “but they are yet to officially pick our nomination forms.”

“There is Professor Yusuf Obaje, Prince Abubakar Audu, Prince Rotimi Obadofin and Alhaji Zakari Jiya.

“Some of them participated in the last exercise which was never to be. We expect that they have not relented in their efforts to continue with their aspiration.’’
