Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has championed and established solid foundations required to build a prosperous and united society through his New Direction blueprint in the state.
The Director-General, Kogi State Bureau of Information Services and Grassroots Sensitisation, Mr Abdulkarim Abdulmalik made this assertion recently in his office at the State Secretariat while addressing the press as part of activities lined up to commemorate the 27th year anniversary of the state.
Mr Abdulmalik who noted that the bridge of harmony being built by the Governor since inauguration has began to yield desired results, emphasised that if past political leaders of the state had made conscious effort to ignore divisive tendencies, Kogi State would have long been a renown tourism and economic hub.
The Director-General further noted that the story of the state since creation in 1991 had been admixture of the good and ugly, adding that it was fast sliding into Hobbesian society where life is nasty, short and brutish before the divine intervention through Governor Bello.
Kogi which connects ten other states including the FCT before the coming of this administration, Mr Abdulmalik emphasised, was totally messed up in all ramifications with an alarming rate of 20 kidnap cases per month, pointing out that this narrative has been altered through heavy investment in security.
“In Kogi today, you don’t need to belong to a particular religion, ethnic or class before you aspire for position. Governor Yahaya Bello through his ingenuity is blind to those factors which were hitherto glorified in our public life.
Even the ardent critics of the administration cannot but appreciate the uncommon bridge of harmony being established by this young and energetic Governor”, he declared.
While appreciating the people of the state for their support since the inception of Governor Yahaya Bello-led administration, he assured them that his principal would not renege on all the promises he made to the people of the state.
