The political atmosphere in Kabba was recently treated to a display of high-octane irony. On Thursday, March 12th, APC Ward Chairmen from Kabba District convened a meeting that was ostensibly about the party, but in reality, was a choreographed hit piece against Senator Sunday Karimi.
It was a classic reenactment of the biblical “hand of Esau, but the voice of Jacob.” While the chairmen provided the faces, the script was clearly written by a frustrated puppeteer—King 501—and his ensemble of court jesters.
The most tragic part of this gathering was the arrogant ignorance displayed by grown men who seem to be trapped in a political time capsule. These individuals are operating as if the old guard still holds the keys to the kingdom.

These chairmen have forgotten that the New Electoral Act has stripped them of their once-mighty relevance. The era where a handful of “stakeholders” could sit in a room and dictate the fate of a Senator is over.
By removing the delegate system, the law has moved the power from the “court jesters” to the actual constituents. A “vote of no confidence” from 15 men in a room holds zero weight against the mandate of the masses.
For a tiny faction from 15 wards to claim they speak for a Senatorial District of 85 wards is not just mischief; it is a mathematical hallucination. They do not speak for the farmers in Yagba, the traders in Lokoja, or the youth in Kogi Koton-Karfe whose lives have been tangibly improved by Senator Karimi’s tenure.
As for the alleged mastermind behind this declaration, the adage holds true: Power does not change a man; it reveals him. This individual, who should be the last person to berate Senator Karimi, has instead chosen to convene a congregation of the misguided.
It begs the question: how can a district famed for its high intellectual capital, its virtue, and its decorum harbor such “dimwitted” elements within its political ranks? The answer lies in the politics of bitterness.
The sudden surge in sponsored attacks isn’t about “performance”—it’s about equity. Senator Karimi has committed the “unpardonable sin” of standing for fairness in the governance of Kogi State.
Karimi has been vocal in calling out the 16-16-16 slogan for what it is: a conjured scam designed to maintain a lopsided status quo.
His insistence on genuine equity has infuriated those who have long benefited from political deceit.
Since they cannot defeat his arguments with logic, they have hired a circus to perform a “No Confidence” dance.
Rumors suggest that this entire exercise was fueled by “humongous” sums of money. However, even in their betrayal, there is no honor. Reports indicate that the very puppets who were herded into this meeting were shortchanged by their own puppeteer. It seems King 501’s court is as financially messy as it is politically irrelevant.
Legislative duty in the Senate is a serious business. It is about bills, oversight, and constituency projects—fields where Senator Karimi has excelled. It is not a stage for the amateur dramatics of King 501. The people of Kogi West are waiting for the real poll, where they will undoubtedly vote for consolidation over comedy.
