Keta Cup: Kogi Confluence, Havedzi Warriors Cruise into Semi Final

The Nigerian and Ghanaian sides have reach the last four of the ongoing Keta Beach Soccer Cup played at the Aborigines Beach Resort in Ghana
One of Nigeria’s representatives, Kogi Confluence and Ghana’s Havedzi Warriors have progressed into the semi finals of the 2016 Keta Cup in Ghana.

This second edition of the underway Keta Cup, an event designed specifically to expose and promote the development of the Ghana Beach Soccer League (GBSL) which kick-off in 2015 proved the sport is progressing towards a high level of development in the country.

The four-day international beach soccer event which featured six teams including club sides from Nigeria and Togo erupted lot of fun and impressive show at the Aboringines Beach Resort pitch on Saturday.

Kogi beach soccer side recorded two draws in two games progressing on goal advantage over Teshie United who had one defeat and draw in the Group A preliminary round of the tournament.

Adamu Audu’s men were held by Havedzi to a 2-2 all draw and Teshie United 5-5 but lost 2-1 and 1-0 respectively in penalty shoot accuring two points.

While Havedzi advanced as group leaders on four points with a 4-0 victory over Teshie United and 2-2 draw with Kogi Confluence but Teshie crashed out on two points due to four goals disadvantage at the expense of the Nigeria.

In Group B, Owibeseb, another Nigerian side cruised into the last four to finishing top with four points from 3-1 win over Sunset Sports and 2-2 draw against Team Brick of Togo in the opening round.

Sunsets finished as runners up with 4-1 win against Team Brink before they lost to Owisebeseb 3-1 but the Togolese side were the major casualty of the group as they bowed out only with one point.

On Sunday, the semi final round resume with Kogi Confluence, Group A runners up to face Group B winners and fellow Nigerian side Owibeseb in the morning.

In the other semi, Havedzi Warriors who finished atop in Group A will take on Group B runners up, Sunsets Sports moments after the first.

Winners of both ties will book a place in the final of the eventful beach soccer tournament in Keta slated to hold on Sunday evening.
