The Managing Director of Kogi Enterprise Development Agency (KEDA), Hajia Rekiya Onaivo Sanni has announced plans to train no less than 10,000 youth in entrepreneurship.

Sanni made the announcement when she met with the association of GSM Village operators in her office.

She commended the young operators for running a well organised system in the GSM Village, in spite of the limited resources at their disposal.

The KEDA boss proposed cluster management for the operators with shared facilities that would enhance productivity and in turn boost the economy of the state.

She harped on the need for the association to have a cluster formation to enable them enroll and benefit from interventions being rolled out by World Bank and other financial institutions to aid productivity and give a touch of professionalism.

She explained that one of KEDA’s mandate is to resuscitate businesses that folded up as a result of the  Covid-19 pandemic, adding that three key sectors identified for intervention includes oil palm, cassava and GSM villages for shared facilities.

In his remarks, the chairman of the association, Mr Idris Mohammed, noted that absence of standard structures is one of the major challenges they face.

He added that provision of a formidable GSM Village for their operators will attract recognition from other states and put Kogi in the front line.
