Senator Sunday Steve Karimi, representing Kogi West Senatorial District in the National Assembly, has congratulated Ambassador Rafiu Olusola Enikanolaiye on his swearing-in as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
In a statement he personally signed and issued to newsmen on Tuesday, Senator Karimi described the appointment as well deserved and a fitting reward for decades of meritorious service. He said Ambassador Enikanolaiye’s career has been defined by professionalism, diligence, and an unblemished record of service to Nigeria.
According to the Senator, the new Minister, an illustrious son of Yagba Land, rose through the ranks of Nigeria’s diplomatic service to become Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He noted that Ambassador Enikanolaiye’s experience spans strategic diplomatic postings in Addis Ababa, Belgrade, Ottawa, London, and New Delhi. The senator added that his previous role as Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and International Relations further equips him for the responsibilities of his new office.
“This appointment is a moment of pride for Yagba Land and the entire Kogi State,” Senator Karimi stated. “I am confident that Ambassador Enikanolaiye will deploy his wealth of experience, diplomatic expertise, and professionalism to advance Nigeria’s foreign policy objectives and strengthen our bilateral and multilateral relationships across the globe.”
The Kogi West Senator also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for the appointment. He described the decision as a demonstration of the President’s commitment to merit, competence, and quality leadership in public service.
While wishing the Minister a successful tenure, Senator Karimi prayed for divine wisdom, sound health, and God’s guidance as Ambassador Enikanolaiye takes on the important task of representing Nigeria on the international stage.
